The Pacific is the world's ocean;
Hawai‘i is its centerpiece.

A message from Maya Soetoro-Ng

The University of Hawai‘i—with the full backing of the state and the city and in cooperation with business and community leaders—is developing a proposal to host a Barack Obama Presidential Center in Honolulu. We envision an action-oriented institution that will forge collaborative solutions to global problems and cultivate a new generation of community leaders capable of making lasting change.

We extend our warmest congratulations to the University of Chicago and the city of Chicago for being selected as the home of the future Barack Obama Presidential Center. And, we look forward to working with the Barack Obama Foundation to establish a presence here in Hawaiʻi.

Please note that this HawaiiPresidentialCenter.com website includes concepts and designs that were included in the Hawaii proposal to the Obama Foundation, and should not be construed as definitive plans.

We are thankful for the opportunity to have presented our ideas to the President and his Foundation, and we look forward to a collaborative partnership in the years to come.

With aloha,

The Hawaii Presidential Center Initiative Team
